What We Do

We work with companies, teams and individuals to develop the habits of high performance and tackle the obstructions of unmanaged stress.

How We Work

Companies usually work with us when individuals central to their success are becoming drained by unmanaged stress, which in turn is affecting their performance and decision making.

We help our clients measure, understand and confront the lifestyle elements exacerbating these stresses… and then support them with targeted coaching interventions to move along a continuum, dialling down the previous negative impacts of stress so they can deliver more for their employers, their families and themselves.

We aim to re-balance positive stresses, negative stresses and recovery time to lead people – who may be key to a company’s or team’s success – to better places.

The Adeki approach has helped many high performers both at work and at home. It aids good decision making, good inter-personal relationships at work and also helps to prevent progressive burn-out impacting families when executives return home.

Most importantly, it is a scientific approach overlaid with high calibre coaching from experienced professionals.

Fact... In the UK in 2018/19 stress, depression and anxiety was the leading cause of absence from work.

Let’s do something about that!

The Process

We use a science-based approach to monitor and understand the stress triggers that affect individuals. We work with our clients to identify the right actions they can take to reduce the negative effects of stress and maximise their performance.

Measurement

At Adeki, we use cutting-edge technology to show how the fundamentals of your physiology can affect your performance.

Awareness

Once we have baseline measures, we report and work on key areas to help clients improve via proven, effective strategies.

Intervention

To move theory into reality requires action to manage physiological barriers to improvement. We support you every step but keep the accountability strong.

Coaching

Once the fundamentals are taken care of, you'll work with one of our accomplished performance coaches to elevate your performance.

Scientifically Measuring Stress in our Client's lives

The tracking technology we use at Adeki measures Heart Rate Variability (HRV), a barometer of the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. These two branches of the autonomic nervous system carry out mirrored functions keeping our bodies adapting to changing environments and challenges. .

The sympathetic nervous system controls stress responses – it triggers our ‘fight or flight’ mode and is always ready to spring into action releasing hormones, increasing heart rate and changing blood flow when we’re stressed. During these times, HRV decreases – there is a reduction in variation of the timings between successive heartbeats. And counter-intuitively, this variation is a reliable biomarker of health and adaptability.

The parasympathetic nervous system, by contrast, acts to ‘turn off’ the reactions of its counterpart where it can. It works to promote rest, recovery and recuperation. It is the bringer of physiological calm!

By measuring HRV, we gain a reliable proxy for balance in the autonomic nervous system. This helps to highlight stress responses, sleep quality, physical/mental load as well as our bodies’ response to nutrition and recovery. A detailed analysis combined with interviews and journaling helps us break down the variables of an individual’s performance. We then tailor interventions and targeted coaching for each individual, helping them reach the full potential that is being threatened by unmanaged stress.

Our HRV measurements come from a fit-and-forget mobile ECG device which single or multi-day measurements. Our standard measurement period is usually seven days.

Glass Half Full?

Think of your body and mind as a glass of water – a glass that is half empty has the capacity to be topped up…but a glass that is overflowing can’t take more. The key to performance – and overall wellness – is to keep our glasses stable at the highest level that works best for us, so we’re ready to deal with work and home pressures.

In a business environment, this translates into the ability to be effective in stressful situations while allowing our bodies and minds to leave those situations behind and recover when we go home… and particularly when we sleep.

For athletes, this means loading optimally, so bodies adapt and become stronger without wasted effort.

The right balance aids good digestion, good rest and good relationships. It can help us be fit and ready to deliver whether we are running a boardroom, a team, a family or a marathon.

The Adeki approach helps individuals discover just how full their glass is now and what they are capable of with the right interventions. We then work with people to build that capability to deliver while maintaining healthy balance.
